April Snow

Actor Bae Yong-jun was hospitalized on June 19 due to overwork and fatigue after the production of his latest movie “April Snow,” directed by Heo Jin-ho and produced by Blue Storm, was intensified on June 18.

Bae’s agency BOF said on June 20 that the actor became overworked while filming the movie on June 19, and was rushed to an emergency room where he received an injection and is currently resting. The agency said a precise diagnosis has not yet been made, but it is presumed to be overexertion. Bae is expected to be released from the hospital today or tomorrow.

Bae had to work until late at night on June 18, filming a scene on a highway.

The influential Japanese sports daily Sankei Sports reported on June 28 that actor Bae Yong-jun will visit Japan in August for the first time this year. The newspaper quoted UIP, the distributor of the movie “April Snow” in Japan, as saying that actress Son Ye-jin, who co-stars in the movie alongside Bae, told reporters about his visit at her latest press conference in Japan.

According to the report, Bae will visit Japan as the first leg of his Asian promotional tour for “April Snow” after he finishes promoting the movie in Korea. Bae’s visit to Japan comes nine months after his last official visit to that country in November of last year, when he traveled there to promote his photo album, and eight months after a private visit to Fukushima in December. Sankei Sports said the actor’s first visit to the country this year will “only add to the sweltering summer heat.”

The newspaper also reported extensively on Son’s visit to Japan on June 27, saying that 25 television cameras were present and over 250 journalists flocked to see Son. At the press conference, Son said it took nine hours to film a bedroom scene in the movie as she had a hard time expressing feelings with her body and working in tandem with Bae.

Top stars Bae Yong-jun and Son Ye-jin will tour 10 Asian countries during the August-September period to promote their new movie “April Snow.” In a June 9 interview with Star News, CEO Kim Dong-ju of ShowEast, the company that produced the movie, reported that the movie will open concurrently in all 10 countries on Sept. 9.

The promotion tour will include Japan, Taiwan, Hong Kong, Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, Vietnam, the Philippines, China and Indonesia. Asian fans are already looking forward to seeing Bae, their favorite “hallyu” star. Bae, Son and their agency Blue Storm are currently finalizing the details of the tour schedule.

The filming of ”April Snow,” a melodrama directed by Heo Jin-ho and starring Bae and Son as the leads, is near completion, with only a few scenes left be shot in Seoul. After the filming is over, Bae will star in the epic drama “Taewang-sasingi,” produced by Kim Jong-hak Production, while Son will be busy filming her next movie, “The Standard Of Love.”
