April Snow

The filming set of the movie “April Snow,” starring Bae Yong-jun, was opened to reporters for the first time in Samcheok, Gangwon Province. On that day, the usually serene village near a squid fishing port was crowded with over 350 journalists.

The scene filmed in front of the reporters was the first date of the movie’s main characters In-soo (played by Bae Yong-jun) and Seo-young (played by Son Ye-jin). It was an ordinary dating scene of a man and a woman enjoying the warm sunshine together. In the scene, the two characters realize for the first time that they have strong feelings for each other.

“I feel like I am learning acting from scratch. Although I am well familiar with director Heo’s style, I never imagined it would be so different this time,” said Bae. But he added that by the time the movie is finished shooting, his acting style will be much more similar with the director’s work style. “It’s a transformation in terms of acting rather than in terms of character,” noted Bae.

Apart from Bae, there is another reason high expectations are being placed on the movie: the lead actress Son Ye-jin, who is known to be very talented in melodramatic acting. Her character falls in love with Bae’s character, and the two begin a complicated and entangled relationship. Since both actors are adept at melodramatic roles, their acting in the first filmed scene looked very real.

“April Snow” will open in September of this year.

Filming set of the movie “April Snow,” starring Bae Yong-jun and directed by Heo Jin-ho, will be opened to a small number of fans on April 23. The movie is being produced by Blue Storm. Bae’s agency posted a message on its website on March 29, saying that only a limited number of visitors will be allowed on the filming set to ensure that shooting goes unhampered.

The agency also informed visitors not to expect Bae to hold a separate meeting with his fans on that day, and warned that only a limited number of domestic fans will be invited to visit the filming set on a first-come-first-served basis.

The event will take place in Seoul; the exact location will be announced later. The agency plans to select visitors after receiving applications by April 2.

Bae is reportedly planning a special event for his overseas fans in the near future. Further notifications and invitations to apply for admission will be posted on each country’s fan websites later.

The production of the movie “April Snow,” starring Bae Yong-jun and Son Ye-jin, has been cranked up after six months of filming on June 18 in Gwangju, Gyeonggi Province. The final scenes of the movie, which have mostly been filmed in Samcheok, Gangwon Province, will be shot this month in Seoul.

“April Snow,” which was exported to Japan at the highest-ever price for a Korean movie due to the popularity of its lead actor Bae, will open in 10 Asian countries concurrently this coming September. Although the exact amount has been kept a secret, the Japanese media estimate it to be as high as 7 million dollars.

Some 33,000 tickets were sold during the first round of pre-sales which began in April, and are expected to reach 100,000 tickets after he second and third rounds, the highest ever ticket sale volume in Japan.

The producers of the movie plan to stage a massive promotion campaign in Japan prior to the movie’s opening.
