Bae hopes new film will prompt viewers to rethink love

South Korean actor Bae Yong Joon, on a visit to Japan to promote his new movie “April Snow,” expressed his hope Tuesday that the film would prompt viewers to think anew about love. The film deals with a man and a woman who gradually fall for each other after learning that their spouses, who sustain critical injuries in an automobile accident, had been cheating on them.
“Making this movie was very difficult but after we were finished, I felt I’d been able to deepen my understanding of love and life,” Bae told a mostly female audience of 5,000 before a sneak preview of the film. “After seeing this movie, I hope you will have a new way of thinking about love.” Many fans who could not win an invitation to the event in a lottery waited outside the venue in the hope of catching a glimpse of Bae, known affectionately as “Yon-sama” among Japanese fans.
